Mimic is an original contemporary artwork from The Fractured Menagerie, the debut series by the O&A Collective, the collaborative practice of artists Jonny Fyvie and Zoë Moss.

The series explores the tension between the polished identities we present to the world and the more unpredictable realities beneath them.

Words from the artists: "Mimic explores the suffocating complexity of maintaining a flawless public identity under intense psychological pressure. The octopus, a master of camouflage and deep- water survival, acts as a visceral manifestation of the chaotic subconscious realities we desperately suppress.

As its tentacles bind the subject in a literal chokehold, they force a sharp geometric fracture down the center of the composition. Jonny’s flat, immaculate acrylic avatar is split open, allowing Zoë’s hyper-realistic oil rendering to expose the raw, defensive human truth trapped within the digital simulation."
